Ballista Consulting led the implementation of Sunquest (Laboratory Information System) at a hospital that had been purchased by a large academic institution and needed to be integrated into the existing technology framework. This effort involved replacing the Soft Lab application. The project was complex due to nine new interfaces with different EHR’s that included: inpatient and outpatient orders with different hospital electronic health records along with point of care system integration and laboratory instrument interfaces.
The Ballista Consulting project manager led the implementation assuming full responsibility for all service deliverables that were developed to achieve all milestones. She created the project scope, budget, governance structure, resource plans, charter, detailed work breakdown schedule, issue management, communication plan, change management plan and risk mitigation plans. The Ballista Technical project manager was responsible for the technical areas including testing, HL7 interface development, overall project testing and training of all laboratory staff.
