Pharmacy Inventory Management System Install

Ballista Consulting led the implementation of a Pharmacy Inventory Management System (PIMS) for an academic medical center.  This was a challenging project since the selected system was widely used in the non-medical inventory space, but never implemented in a clinical pharmacy.  The project involved coordination of the vendor R&D team working with our client's pharmacy purchasing, finance and clinical operations to develop and implement a beta product.

 

The Ballista Project Managers coordinated the site prep, delivery and installation of  SencorWhite carousels at each site. The installation of the carousels required facility remodeling and extensive network and power updates. Implementing a system that unifies purchasing, inventory management and pharmacy financials across multiple sites was not currently live in any pharmacy inpatient setting.

  

The Ballista Consulting project manager led the implementation assuming full responsibility for all service deliverables that were developed to achieve all milestones.  Ballista specifically provided project scope, budget, governance structure, resource plans, charter, detailed work breakdown schedule, issue management, training, organizational change, training logistics, risk mitigation plans along with operational deployment. Ballista consultants were responsible for the command center staffing and logistics plan including operational planning to move and upload all pharmacy inventory (medications) into the new Elite application.  The consultant was responsible for status reporting to executive team and project close out activities once Elite was successfully implemented.  

The Ballista technical project manager focused specifically on reports and extracts, testing, device deployment and working with vendors on the development and implementation of new interfaces.  She was responsible for service deliverables for her respective technical areas including testing, HL7 interface gap analysis, documentation of build, reports and extracts and diagrams for the interface threads.  Our consultants led the execution of the integration testing and coordinated issue resolution. Using their past experiences working with large scale systems implementations and interfaces, the Ballista Consultant project leadership was adept at identifying risk and quickly creating mitigation plans. Their success was evident upon activation where there were minimal issues and operational challenges.
